Author's Note

Tony Couture, from Pabos in the Gaspé Peninsula, has been fishing for Atlantic salmon for several years. The Restaurée, one of his latest creations, proved surprisingly effective in the Grand Pabos West. Although conventional fishing methods can be used successfully, Couture takes a different approach. He casts his fly upstream and lets it drift with the current, adjusting the line position during the drift. The fly thus presents itself differently, and the wing, fluttering in the water's movement, gives it a distinctive appearance.

Created by Lucie Hailé of Lévis, who sadly passed away in 2006. Like a shoemaker with no shoes, as she used to say, Lucie would tie flies a few hours before heading out fishing. The first time she used this artificial fly was on the Quelle, a salmon river east of Quebec City. To her great surprise, when she cast it, the fly reminded her of the color of the Mediterranean Sea with its greenish-blue reflections. The effectiveness of the Mediterranean has been confirmed by many highly experienced salmon anglers.
