Hook - Single salmon

Thread - Fluorescent red

Tip - Dubbed with fluorescent red lamb's wool

Body - Black crystal chenille

Wing - Black marabou tied over the body

Topping - Black flashabou accent or krystal flash

Hackle - Black hen hackle

This was one of my early creations after I developed Crystal Chenille in 1986. 

This is a very effective fly.

Al Knudson originated this pattern in the early 1950s while he was residing in Everett, Washington. The original pattern has black bear hair for the wing.

Ward Cummings and Clarence Gordon originated this pattern in the 1930s for Oregon's Umpqua River. It is still a popular pattern with many anglers.
